Until a couple of months ago, I had been using Ledgerscope for 6 years or so for xero backups. But gradually it's ability to do things like export to onedrive just got worse and worse and the response from Ledgerscope got worse, too. No features or improvements were made. Eventually, the export just didn't work at all. I think they just aren't investing anything in it. When I searched for an alternative I saw good feedback about Control-C and saw that the company owner was happy to give a demo. So, I booked him in and just from the demo alone I could see that Control-C is light years ahead of Ledgerscope - for the same price. Ledgerscope is bare bones. It holds 30 days of backup and, if your xero data is not too big, you can export it. Control-C holds unlimited incremental backup (for the same price as Ledgerscope) and gives all these other things that I didn't expect but actually really like: * a full working parallel kind of lite version of xero that you can use if xero goes offline (like it did a while back) * I can give other staff separate user access * Nice clean intuitive interface * notification and warning emails * Campbell (the owner) is really enthusiastic about the product, keen to improve it and responsive to feedback. So far, honestly, I haven't come across anything I don't like. Everything works, too. The initial syncing process took a long time (about a week for one of the organisations) I think because of Xero's API limits - but it displayed its progress as it went.

I have been using Controlc for a few years for my Xero back-ups after they were referred to me by someone else. I had no idea what was involved or how to organize it, but Campbell was amazing in getting me all set up seamlessly. Since then, he and his team have been exceptional in keeping me up to date with improvements and giving excellent guidance if I ever needed to do anything on my end. It really has been problem free.

It's incredibly rare to encounter a company that offers such an unbelievably high level of customer service! While exporting a full account backup, I ran into an issue with transaction data being split between 2 .csv files when I needed it concentrated into a single file. I sent in a help ticket explaining the issue. To my surprise, Campbell (Founder) responded within a few minutes! He went far beyond offering work around solutions. He offered to have his team rewrite their software (overnight) to include this feature and correct the issue I was running into. Thanks again, Campbell!

I purchased the one-off backup when finishing with Xero. Control C had the most comprehensive solution and makes looking up historical account data very simple. The support has been excellent, and I would highly recommend this product, either so you have piece of mind of a regular backup, or, like myself, needed a one-off solution to move on from Xero.

I am migrating from Xero to FreeAgent, primarily because I can get it free with a Mettle bank account. I needed to download all the information and attachments from Xero for record keeping purposes. ControlC was great for this purpose and once I understood how it worked, the one off download was a breeze and very cost effective compared to some of it's competitors. Campbell Green, the founder, was very responsive to my queries - I would definitely recommend this service whether as a one off or as a regular backup.

Wow, I was super surprised to learn that I need to do backups on Xero. Then I found Control-C. Pheew, I now sleep well at night, knowing it is all backed up! Campbell and the team is super clued-up, and the "handholding" during that first couple of weeks (API limits on Xero's side mean that the first full backup takes time) was awesome! Even the time difference (NZ - SA) did not stand in their way to assist!

Looking for a back-up/restore solution. Already have reservations about restores that actually involve a hell of a lot of work/missing info etc. It's late on Sunday evening. Search Xero backup. Rewind website first - looks promising, hand over e-mail address, to discover they want me to call them to let them know what we want form a Xero back-up service. They don't actually have one yet!! Backupmybooks website - the experience was another give us your name & e-mail address first & then we'll hand you over to a chatbot, with no hope of an answer, yet alone conversation. But we will bombard you with e-mails. Another deadend & addition to my blocked senders list in Outlook. Control-C - BINGO! Chatted with Campbell within a minute or two, (definitely a real person!), & read the refreshingly honest view that Xero data could not readily be backed-up (I miss the Sage days!) yet alone restored, so be very skeptical about claims that say you can. Agreed - I already am having fallen foul of this in the past. I appreciate honesty instead of over selling. I also appreciate software providers that talk to me like an adult, and not like a child. So, I am now starting the trial, and looking forward to having all those docs & transactions that we are putting into Xero's hands backed up effortlessly, as well as data & changes info, and.......the more I read, the more keen I am. Far more functionality beyond back-ups than I could have imagined, and lots of 5 star ratings in Xero & elsewhere online. Thanks Campbell & Control-C

We've used Control-C to backup our Xero data for a long time now. Fortunately we've never lost any Xero data, but its re-assuring to know you have something to fall back on if the worst were to happen. When we have needed support the team at Control-C have always been very good to work with in my experience. Definitely a crew that care about their product and customers. Recommended.

Xero only provides a limited API, so no backup solution is complete but in a disaster I wanted to have data I could sort and tidy to have something rather than nothing. Control-C came highly recommended by Xero users. Control-C provides the best I could find in terms of feature set. Their control panel allows me to download attached files (evidence attached to bills so that I can recover suppliers invoices) and XML data of all transactions which appears to go to line level. There were a few teething issues, but Campbell, Emil and his team have worked continually to get things up and running. My teething issues were as a result of API limits set by Xero, but Control-C have persisted and now the initial bulk of data has exported differential backups each night should remain within the API limits. Their control panel also has a side benefit beyond backups as it shows what changed day to day. Especially useful if a remote accountant makes changes and you then cannot identify what they changed, the backup gives you a clear view of what others have changed and messed up.

Loving ControlC. IMHO Very, very, good. It just works. Killer feature for me is that it backs up all attached files in Xero as well as the data. Can then download to my PC in a zip file if I need to. Set it and forget it and have your backups on ControlC's cloud servers or download them locally if you so desire. Staff are responsive and helpful and the price is very reasonable. One less nagging doubt about backups.

This is really a must have. Since subscribing to Control-C if feel much more comfortable now that I have historical copies of my data. I now have my data in three locations: Xero, Control-C and the occasional Control-C download to my computer. When I was originally looking to move myself and most of my clients to Xero, I identified two stumbling blocks. One was my many MYOB RetailManager clients that need a way to get their old POS data into a different accounting system and the second was some concern about backups especially if someone made unauthorised changes. I solved the first by developing our RM-Importer addon with a friend of mine and we had also started to write backup code. Now that I have found this product and had a chat with Kent and Campbell about their future plans, it is now time to cut our own development project. I have had a look at some of the other backup and download solutions for Xero and I think this is the best one I have seen. Happy to promote it with my clients and continue to watch it improve.
